Faculty of IT Designs MyIUM Learning Management System
A technical team of four lecturers and students from the Faculty of Information Technology and Systems Administration is in its final stage of implementing its own designed software, named MyIUM Learning Management System.
Amongst others, the system boasts of features such as the upload and download of lecture notes, chat and forum facilities for students and lecturers before, during or after classes, assessment facilities for online and offline assignments, test with grading facility, plugins for audio-visual online teaching and learning support. Furthermore, MyIUM will be another communication channel to the students as it has sections of News and Announcements where valuable information can be posted.
Upon implementation of the system, teaching and learning will be made easier, efficient and more effective for lecturers and students. The system will allow the University to take teaching to the doorsteps of students irrespective of their location, and also students to contact their lecturers irrespective of time and place. In addition, it is expected that this system will aid the University in the direction of taking its courses to students beyond the shores of Namibia.
In its initial implementation stages, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Faculty of Information Technology and Systems Administration will be the first to start using MyIUM Learning Management System. Other Faculties and Schools will be rolled onto the System gradually.
