The Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE) programme is a one-year duration programme which is a hybrid of online delivery and face-to-face block release.
In a continued effort to foster quality teaching in higher education, the programme is designed to develop academic staff’s pedagogical skills to enable them to link their pedagogical expertise (what they know about teaching) to their subject matter knowledge (what they know about what they teach). Furthermore, the programme aids academic staffs to respond to emerging higher education challenges and renegotiate new expectations, identities and challenges of higher education.
The block release covered different courses such as; Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, Educational Management, Assessment in Higher Education, Research Supervision in Higher Education, Curriculum Planning and Development in Higher Education, and E-Learning in Higher Education. According to the results of the post-evaluation survey, students expressed that the block release session was a huge success. The faculty has scheduled for the second Block Release session for August 23-27, 2021.
