Nujoma pleased to be associated with IUM’s growth and expansion
“One of the salient features of my socio-economic development life in Namibia is my close association and contribution to the establishment and development of the International University of Management (IUM) which I inaugurated in 2002.” These were the words of the Founding Father, H.E. Dr Sam Nujoma in his keynote address during the Special Graduation Ceremony held by IUM to honour the work of three (3) outstanding Namibian entrepreneurs.
Addressing a large crowd of close to 500 guests, amongst them, Senior Government Ministers and former Ministers, Chief Executive Officers of various SOE’s, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, Nujoma praised the founder of IUM Dr David Namwandi to have taken his advice. He stated that “ Dr Namwandi listened to me, and with uttermost commitment and dedication, he proved to the Namibian nation and the rest of the world that he was a visionary who did not just have a day dream, but one that he turned into reality. As a result, we now see IUM in our midst scaling the higher education landscape in Namibia with certainty and drive.”
He congratulated the three graduates; Mr Erastus Shapumba, Mr Banda Shilimela, and Mrs Twapewa Kadhikwa and wished them the best to continue to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country and its people. Nujoma concluded his speech with a popular Namibian salutation to IUM thus:
“Long live IUM!”
“Long live the Republic of Namibia!”
