The IUM Coastal Campus recently signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Namibian Ports Authority (NAMPORT) and various Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Erongo Region.
The first MoU that was signed with (NAMPORT) stated that NAMPORT would annually provide internship opportunities for suitable IUM students from various Faculties. Furthermore, IUM and NAMPORT will establish a joint research agenda and formal education programmes. The programmes will be aimed at exploring and nurturing innovative initiatives based on the blue economy business model(s) for the benefit of the coastal areas of Namibia; and to assist each other in carrying out work-related surveys in identified areas.
Other MoUs which were signed with various Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) namely, Hafeni Tours and Travel; Tsaobis Nature Park Rest Camp; Big Brother Guesthouse; and Benguela Kayak Tours at the Swakopmund Research and Consultancy Centre aim to, amongst others, set out the basis for cooperation with the SMEs to provide internship to IUM students pursuing studies in Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management.
