Honourable Dr. Moses Amweelo, former Honourable Member of Parliament affirmed that more hands were needed on deck to address the challenges of climate change and Namibian Universities could also play a vital role. He, recently, presented at a Public Lecture on “Climate Change: Assessing the Predictions and Namibia's Readiness to cope”at IUM, Dorado Main Campus.


The Department of Software Development under the Faculty of Information Technology and Systems Development hosted a programming competition for its students in October at Dorado Park Main Campus.

IUM and NCRST sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

The International University of Management (IUM) and the National, Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 02 February 2017 at Dorado Park Main Campus, to strengthen Research, Development and Innovation at IUM, in line with the priority areas as outlined in the National Programme on Research, Science and Technology, and jointly promote and achieve the national development goals as articulated in Vision 2030 and NDP 5. The MoU was signed by Prof. Kingo Mchombu, Acting Vice Chancellor of IUM and Dr. Eino Emvula, Chief Executive Officer of NCRST.


The unveiling of the multimillion dollar IUM Nkurenkuru New Academic Building was held on the 29 November 2016 in Kavango west region. The Former Namibian President Dr Hifikepunye Pohamba in his keynote address which was delivered on his behalf by Mr Peter Mwatile, the Executive Director in his office, applauded IUM for becoming a key player in the provision of higher education and training in Namibia.

12th IUM Graduation 2016

1700 students graduated from IUM and received their various qualifications, including Masters and Doctoral Degrees.Heartiest congratulations to you all. 'You fought battles and overcame obstacles. You had a goal and gave it your soul. You worked hard and went the extra yard. You gave it your all, and today you stand tall.' Indeed, your graduation marks the culmination of all the hard work you have put through your life as a student.

IUM confers Honorary Professorship to Dr Simon Gicharu.

The International University of Management (IUM) continued its tradition to honour outstanding entrepreneurs within and outside Namibia's borders during its 12th Graduation Ceremony which took place on 26th September, 2016. Dr Simon Nyutu Gicharu, a Kenyan, was the recipient of this year's honour, with the title of Honorary Professorship, Honoris Causa, bestowed upon him. He is the Chairman and founder of Mount Kenya University the biggest private university in Eastern and Central Africa.

MKU (Kenya) visits IUM

IUM was pleased to host a delegation from the Mount Kenya University (MKU) from Kenya last week for the 12th Graduation ceremony where MKU's founder and chair, Dr. P. Gichuru received an honorary Professorship. Further, the delegation was here to exchange and transfer skills regarding entrepreneurship. Prof P. Wanderi remained for a week to engage with IUM management regarding a possible academy for entrepreneurial graduates.your graduation marks the culmination of all the hard work you have put through your life as a student.

Nujoma pleased to be associated with IUM’s growth and expansion

Nujoma praised the founder of IUM Dr David Namwandi to have taken his advice. He stated that “ Dr Namwandi listened to me, and with uttermost commitment and dedication, he proved to the Namibian nation and the rest of the world that he was a visionary who did not just have a day dream, but one that he turned into reality.

Enhancing cultural literacy in a culturally diverse society

“The value of cultural literacy became so evident that it was developed into a course offered at colleges and universities all over the world.” These were the words of the IUM Vice-Chancellor, Mrs Virginia W. Namwandi in her opening address during this year’s Cultural Festival. She further described how the concept of cultural literacy had gained importance in the world today as it had increasingly became a global characteristic in the village that we live in.

IUM and Raymond C. Dabney University (USA) sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

In an effort to foster the internationalization of education and health care, and to collaborate with appropriate higher education institutions, IUM and Raymond C. Dabney University (RCDU), USA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to collaborate in the areas of health and education during the visit of the renowned Professor Julius Garvey to IUM in June, 2016.

Ongwediva Faculty of Education Hailed as a Success

The Faculty of Education at IUM Ongwediva Campus is making significant strides by attracting numerous students. Introduced in 2015, the Faculty started off with only 27 students. This year 95 students have been registered. The Faculty offers a Bachelor Honours Degree in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy for professionals who already have a Namibia Qualification Framework (NQF) Level 6 or Level 7 qualification in Education and/or related disciplines.

Tjingaete Starts IUM’s Budding Research Department

Dr Rukee Tjingaete is an experienced academic with a strong research background, with over 35 years of experience in both public and private institutions in Namibia and abroad. He brings a wealth of experience to IUM in the field of research. He is a Ph.D. holder in Mass Media Studies from Michigan University, USA. He also holds a Masters degree in Mass Communication Research from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
