Courses offered by the Department of Languages and Communication are offered to all the students at IUM in all the campuses. The aim is to improve English language skills and proficiency in prospect of the future professional life of our graduates. The aim of foreign language courses offered to our students is to develop new language skills based on the demands of the market. Our communication courses are aimed at assisting our students to develop new critical thinking skills or to strengthen and improve their communication skills.
Graduates from the Faculty of Strategic Management and Leadership are equipped with human capital development and management skills, marketing management skills, international relations and diplomacy skills, public policy and management skills, creative skills and critical problem solving skills which enable them to manage successfully marketing organisations, human resource management development organisations and multinational organisations. Candidates are trained to have unique brain power ready to challenge the status quo, be innovators, merchandisers and wealth creators.
Mr Lucky Pieters
Mr Lucky Pieters is the Dean of the Faculty of Strategic Management and Leadership. Prior to that, he was employed by the Ministry of Education as a H.O.D at the College of Arts (2001 – 2015).
He holds a Diploma in Business Administration, B.Tech Degree in Business Administration from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) which he completed in 2009. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (2012) and an M.B.A -Strategic Management from the Namibian Business School, University of Namibia (UNAM) which he completed in 2015.
He is currently pursuing his PhD in Corporate Governance at the International University of Management (IUM).

The Faculty of Strategic Management and Leadership welcome all our new and returning students. Our faculty’s aim is to establish a superior seat of learning in Namibia and to train innovative specialists for both the public and private sector in Namibia and counties in the world. It is in keeping with this flame of affection for academic excellence that our faculty endeavour to ignite academic passion in our students and aim to develop and produce an African cadre of men and women who can operate at international standards in business.
The Faculty of Strategic Management and Leadership is a hands on, student centred faculty. We have a well-qualified, experienced and dedicated team of lecturers, who are passionately always ready to support our students in their pursuit for academic excellence.

Certificate in Marketing Management (Level 5) is designed for people who are currently working and unemployed interested in developing their marketing expertise, students will gain a significant level of knowledge and or expertise of marketing goods or service in various industry levels. This qualification is designed to impart marketing skills which are useful for successful marketing careers, creation of a thriving business relationship in the interactive task of market research, analysis of consumer behaviour, selling and promotion of services.
Qualification Duration:Any student beginning studies in the university in the first year of a programme must from the date of the first registration complete this qualification within 1 (one) year.
Admission /Entry RequirementsTo be admitted to study for this qualification, one shall have satisfied the minimum conditions for entry to degree studies at this University as prescribed under the entry requirements in the IUM General Academic Regulations. This includes a minimum of 20 points from a Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (Ordinary or Higher or a combination of both) or equivalent qualification(s), provided that the candidate has passed five subjects (including English at Grade D minimum) normally in not more than three examination sittings.

The Namibian Nation requires well trained people to market Brand Namibia and its tourist attractions. The course is to contribute towards effective marketing in both private and public organisations and at the personal level. This qualification is designed to impart marketing skills which are useful for successful marketing careers, creation of a thriving business relationship in the interactive task of market research, analysis of consumer behaviour, selling and promotion of services.

The course will ensure effective marketing skills in both private and public organizations.
This qualification is designed to impart marketing skills which are useful for successful marketing careers, creation of a thriving business relationship in the interactive task of market research, analysis of consumer behaviour, selling and promotion of services.
Qualification Duration:Any student beginning studies in the university in the first year of a programme must from the date of the first registration complete this qualification within a minimum of 3 years and maximum 5 years after which failure to obtain this qualification the studies will be discontinued.
The qualification comprises of semesters, per academic year there are six (6) semesters. Semester 1 runs from January to June. Semester 2 runs from July to December.

The Bachelor in Marketing Management Honours Level 8 is designed to provide the graduate marketing manager with a forum (both written and oral) for presenting and defending their own marketing decisions and for critically examining and discussing the recommendations of others. The degree will produce graduates who will make a positive and practical contribution to the industry and commerce in Namibia and beyond. The qualification is a response to Namibia’s human capital development demands projected in Namibia’s National Human Resources Planning Report for 2030. Namibia is a developing economy that needs a cadre of men and women trained to manage businesses professionally.

The qualification is designed to teach the students the real life human resource tools required for employment and wealth creation in Namibia.
The program exposes students to the twenty-first century skills, knowledge, and understanding of human resource functions in private and public-sector organizational environments. The Bachelor of Human Resource Management Honours is a one-year post graduate qualification designed to prepare students to take up managerial and non-managerial assignment in the human resource functional area.
The program exposes students to twenty-first century human resource management skills and knowledge. It seeks to give students a solid understanding of human resource functions in both the private and public- sectors.
The curriculum also prepares the graduates to be able to operate at managerial level by incorporating management and organisation theory, organisational behaviour and development approaches, labour relations theory and practice, and interpersonal skill development.
